The mission of PLC/RTA is to provide a structured learning environment offering a variety of instructional methods and materials that meet the individual needs of students.

Program Adminstrator: Dr. Eric Robertson

Rome City Schools and Community, as the new Program Administrator of the Rome Transitional Academy and Phoenix Performance Learning Center, Dr. Eric Robertson realized the great responsibility that he has to inform, inspire, and motivate all stakeholders through the lens of “Changing the Narrative: One Story at a Time!”

Dr. Rob is a native of South Carolina, who’s been married for 20 years with 4 children, Aaralyn, Aaria, Arie, and Aariel. Dr. Rob served in the United States Marine Corps for 8 years. While in the USMC, he earned two degrees, an Associate of Arts in General Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics/Communications. After completing his duty in the military, he earned his Master of Education in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment; Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership, and Doctoral of Education in Educational Leadership with a specialization in Special Education Leadership. While in college, he became a Brother of Phi Beta Sigma Sigma Chapter.

Dr. Rob’s educational experiences include 17 years at various levels: Primary, Elementary, Middle, High, Alternative School, and College; Dr. Rob also served as a former Mathematics Department Chair, Special Education Department Co-Chair, Special Education Instructional Coach, GED Instructor, and Faith-Based Liaison. He has also provided professional learning and development in the areas of Mathematics Specialized Instruction and Implementation of Instructional Strategies through various technology platforms across the curriculum at the district level. He has also written instructional plans and developed activities coupled with resources to help teachers close the achievement gaps for students, especially those that were at-risk of dropping out of the school system.

Dr. Rob’s passion is developing positive relationships with everyone within the school community while working with students as they grow so that they can reach their greatest potential. Most of all, Dr. Rob is well known for his iFOCUS Mentoring Program which consists of 100 Community Mentors that are guided by Dr. Rob’s school and community curriculums focusing on building relationships, increasing achievement, and parenting involvement. Dr. Rob's ultimate goal is to release power to empower all stakeholders of the RTA/PLC family to ensure that all students graduate from Rome High School prepared for college or work!

Dr. Rob looks forward to meeting you and your family at the RTA/PLC throughout the year and he would like for you to remember that there are always students and teachers in need of ideas, resources, a helping hand, a mentor, or a lunch buddy. Therefore, by becoming involved in your child’s educational experiences, you can support an excellent-oriented culture with Dr. Rob, “Changing the Narrative: One Story at a Time!”.
